Question by Wiggles M: Help on the book All quiet on the Western Front?
does anyone know how to explain this question for the book all quiet on the western front?

According to the text, how does war empower petty, power-hungry men? Think especially about Himmelstoss. How do the other characters cope with their forced subordination?

All Quiet on the Western Front (German: Im Westen nichts Neues) is a novel written by Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran of World War I. The book shows the war’s horrors and also the deep detachment from German civilian life felt by many men returning from the front. The novel was first published in November and December 1928 in the German newspaper Vossische Zeitung and in book form in late January 1929.

Question by freakykittygoddess: Ideas for a girl’s quiet book???
Ideas for a girl’s quiet book???
I am making a quiet book for my niece for Christmas and am trying to come up with a few more ideas. I want this to be pretty and girly. She will be 8 months when Christmas rolls around, so I don’t want anything too much for her. Any suggestions would be great.

A quiet book is a fabric book with different cloth pages. Each page has something different to button, zip, snap, velcro and felt items, etc. An example of a page in a quiet book would be an ocean page with different fish to velcro to the page so the baby can pull it off and put it back on in a different spot.

How about ballet slippers to lace, a hat with a fluffy pink feather, a teapot and cups to Velcro on, a jeweled hand mirror that reflects her face, a girls head with yarn hair to put Barret’s on, a baby in a bunter to zip up, and big flowers each with petals made from different fabrics, some fuzzy, some silky, etc.
Hope this gives you some ideas…it has me! Thanks for the idea! I think I will make one for my baby girl who will be 6 mo this Christmas.

The Quiet Book

Question by bulwork: Where can I find a good pattern for a toddlers quiet book?
I made one of these in Junior High School and I loved it. It’s been forever ago, or so it seems. I gave mine away when doing a lot of babysitting. I’d like to find patterns to make some for family and one for myself to have on hand. If you get the right pages made, toddlers will stay busy a long time, plus they learn as well.
