Diaper Rash – Ways To Stop And Avoid Baby Skin Inflammation
A diaper rash can usually break out on your baby’s skin chiefly in warm to hot, humid conditions or when your baby sweats. Diaper rash can be avoided in the majority situations by simply avoiding certain products or fabrics that are skin irritants.
By applying skin gels such as petroleum jelly to the affected area, you can help sooth your baby’s skin and in the majority of situations diminish the rashes. Skin creams that contain zinc oxide work too. The zinc oxide or petroleum jelly gels are pretty effective and work as barriers to sweat and wetness build-up.
You should not massage the petroleum jelly or zinc oxide into the baby’s skin, as an alternative put it on as a layer. Different factors at play can be the culprit of diaper rashes. A baby’s diaper that’s very tight could diminish the amount of air movement and cause your baby to perspire more. Skin irritations can also arise from a case of awful diarrhea though this is most likely not the primary suspect of your baby’s diaper rash.
A number of brands of diapers have a tendency to irritate a baby’s skin more than others, so try and experiment with different brands if you have already tried everything else. With some brands of diapers and baby wipes, certain chemicals are used to create the diapers and your baby’s skin may be hypersensitive to them.
Rather than putting on a new pair of diapers directly after you change his diapers, permit your baby’s bottom to air-dry first. This will help avoid moisture from building up. You could also try diapers which are one size larger and don’t fit too tightly. By purchasing slightly bigger diapers you help diminish the degree of skin abrasion against the diaper and plus increase the air circulation which will help in reducing sweat.
In the past we didn’t have the luxury of using disposable synthetic diapers so babies had to wear washable cotton diapers instead, and this resulted in much fewer cases of skin inflammation. This is because cotton breathes much more easily than synthetic diapers and has no added harsh chemicals which might result in a baby’s skin to be aggravated.
A yeast infection can at times be mistaken for a rash thus it is critical you be perceptive of that. Yeast infections tend to persist longer than rashes (it can continue for weeks if not treated) and the affected region becomes very red with scales and skin flaking. If this develops you need to take your baby to a doctor and have it looked at. Doctors will normally tell you to take care of the fungal-affected region with an anti-fungal cream.

The best diaper available
Our hospital used these kind of diapers and i had originally thought hey a diaper is a diaper. Not true. Little did i know how much these would help my husband and I. Our daughter is extremely fussy about being wet and immediately starts up the crank. There is a yellow line along the middle of each diaper that turns green upon being wet. We can quickly check to see if there’s a green line and there usually is. We keep a tiny maglight by the bassinet and one by the pack n play’s changer so we can check for the line in the dark without waking baby with lights. This is fantastic for those barely awake middle of the night diaper changes. There is a lining inside that wicks away the moisture from baby’s skin. I will never use another diaper after having the convenience and quality rolled into one. The designs are so cute, not that it matters, we’ve had sesame street on the pampers swaddlers and cute little birds/sun/moon on the pampers swaddler sensitive ones, both have the line to tell you when wet.

Best diapers for newborns and beyond
My husband and I were previously using just the Pampers Swaddlers, but then they recently (March-April 2010) changed their product (adding “Dry Max” and taking away the wetness indicator line), so we switched to the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive, which still has the front wetness indicator line. Yes, the diapers are thin, absorbant, etc., etc., but the wetness indicator makes all the difference to us. At a front GLANCE at the diaper, you can immediately tell if there’s wetness. (I don’t know why they would have thought taking this away from the Pampers Swaddlers line was a good idea.)

Pampers Swaddlers Best Diapers Out There
Pampers Swaddlers are the best diapers available.
My son has extremely sensitive skin and these diapers are super soft and gentle on him. They are very leak resistant and I’ve only had a couple of leaks over 4 months of diaper changing and they were very minor; especially compared to when I tried Huggies diapers because I had coupons –they were so not worth the money I saved because it seemed like every other one would leak which just lead to more messes and laundry for me to take care of.
I have also tried other brands of diapers, but Pampers are the very best and they are all we use now.

we have been very happy with pampers sensitive diapers. unlike other brands we have tried, we haven’t dealt with any poopsplosions and our baby’s diaper rash has gone away. the only issue we have is with sizing; although our baby does not yet weigh 13 pounds, these diapers are already looking a little small. not sure if this is because of how our baby is built or if the weight limit is legitimately off.

Best Diaper Ever…Wish it came in a bigger size
As a first time parent I had to do some trial-n’-error. I tried all of the major brands, wish someone had told me about these diapers and saved me all the trouble. These are the ONLY diapers that are fabricy soft, not packed with heavy perfume that cause irritation, and whisk away moisture unlike anything else. Even during a 100+ degree summer my baby NEVER got a diaper rash in these diapers. I tried Luvs for two hours and my baby’s bum turned sun-burned red! Huggies were alright but did not absorb as well, were bulkier and surprisingly more expensive (I am a competitive shopper though).
Simply said, these are THE BEST hands down. Just wish they went beyond size 2. I would have used them until my baby was potty trained.
p.s. love the Pampers Sensitive wipes just the same.
